2 NATIONAL COACHES caricatures
It was the first time that the European Championship was organized together in two countries.
Until then, it seemed unthinkable that neighboring countries Belgium and the Netherlands could organize football together.
That's why I painted the 2 competitive coaches as best buddies, hand in hand. Okay, that was grossly exaggerated, but isn't that often the case with caricatures?
In addition, I have depicted the Belgian team as "fries bags" (Belgian specialty), the Dutch as chattering "cheese heads".
The national coaches of Belgium and the Netherlands, Robert Waseige and Frank Rijkaard, hand in hand, as a symbol of the cooperation between Belgium and the Netherlands
for the organization of Euro 2000, the European Men's Football Championship.
The cartoon was my contribution to the International Cartoon Festival of Knokke-Heist that year.
I was kindly thanked for my participation, as you can see in the letter on the left,... but I didn't win a prize :-)
